Welcome to the party...
And welcome into our homes and hearts. We are so thrilled that you've chosen to attend our little soiree.
Please allow us to introduce ourselves and tell you a little story of how we met: Once upon a time there were some eager students who found a magical Wizard to teach them tarot. He promised to reveal all the deeply held secrets, bust all the damaging "myths" and give all students who dedicate themselves to study in his castle the key to prosperity through the magic of the tarot. And so we dared enter this school of mystery and for hours and hours, weeks and weeks, months and months we listened and studied and indeed learned a great deal. We enjoyed our accelerated schooling and felt very special and honored to have met the Wizard, yet we longed for a sense of community and connection with one another, we were eager to practice, to share our experience with other students and to test our new found magic skills.
The Wizard assured us that "in time" our groups would be assigned and we would have that much desired interaction. But we must wait for the proper facilitation of such learning, it was not to be taken lightly and we must have experienced Apprentice Wizards among us who were trained in the way of the Master Wizard and would assure we would not stray from his teachings (thereby loosing the magic skills we had just gained). As many eager students do we rebellious few started to form our own groups so excited to continue our learning and make our Master Wizard proud.
Alas, this is where our Fairy Tale begins to fall apart. You see what we had learned was much more than the magic of tarot, we had learned to expand our minds, hearts and souls to explore conversations with the Universe through cards and through the energy of one another. We were like Toto from the Wizard of Oz, eager to know what was really going on and we had unexpectedly peeked behind the curtain of the Wizard. We learned that we had the magic within us all along and did not need the empty certification from the Wizard to validate our skills. The Wizard was not happy with our progress and one by one banished each of us from his castle, never to be allowed to return.
We were disappointed and upset but no less eager to learn and grow, in fact, we were more determined than ever to take all of the good we had gained in that Castle and expand upon it in a way that allowed others to enjoy what we did: independent thinking, open study, multiple viewpoints, engaging conversations, a heck of a lot of fun and NO Secrets. Behind The Deck is the result of that dream. Meet the rebellious students who would like to invite you behind the deck with them; to be a part of our community of rebellious, fun loving, eager to learn and grow, apprentices of the process of life who happen to know about the magic of tarot.
Join us! Because the Oracles are for everyone.

As long as I can remember I have been having divine conversations. I was "imaginative", I was claircognizant, I had dejavu all the time, blurted things from my mouth that seemingly came from nowhere but always seemed to strike a nerve with those on the receiving end of the message. Needless to say that was NOT a popular party trick in high school. So, I learned to keep that part of me quiet and contained.
Growing up in a household that was interested in metaphysics (astrology, numerology, mediumship), we had a psychic who used to come visit and do readings for us. The first one I remember was when I was 9 years old and she brought out a bunch of playing cards and laid them all out on the table as she spoke to me. I couldn't help but wonder HOW she knew those things about me and how did those cards tell her?
That interest and intrigue wouldn't resurface until a few years ago when a friend bought me a deck of tarot cards and said, "You'll be GREAT at these". What? I didn't know anything about those cards. But, they felt familiar to me, I trusted her and started asking questions and pulling cards for her. The messages just always seemed to resonate with her and to help her out. And I thought, WOW how cool to be able to help someone in this way. Finally my voice could be used for good because it was INVITED in by another.
I'm kind of an obsessive hobbyist so, it wasn't enough for me to just read a card here and there for a friend. When I go in, I go ALL in (just ask your fellow hosts). I started taking some courses and the more I learned the more I felt as if divination was meant for me! It combined all the things I LOVED in life, my interest in the spiritual realm, my connection with my intuition, an arena to express it and above all the ability to empower myself and others to navigate the yellow brick road of life. I was hooked.
My approach to divination is to use it for self-exploration, self-development and strategies to help elevate the energies of the earth. While I am intuitive and I use my intuition as well as my experience to read the cards, I am not a fortune teller nor am I psychic or a medium. And believe that you don't have to be any of those things to open up your own divine conversations.
Tarot and Oracle Card Reading is an act of self love. It is a high form of self-evolvement & involvement - It's an exploratory experience, a light to possible paths, a tool to help you tap into your own intuition & get the guidance you need to take the next steps on your journey.
I hope that you'll join us in revealing your own map to this fascinating adventure.

I started reading Tarot just over five years ago after attending a party at which a reader had been hired to provide readings to the guests. I was immediately interested in receiving a reading and intrigued when the reader told me, “You should do this, you’d be good at it.” I replied that I knew nothing about Tarot cards and asked her why she thought that I should look into learning. Her simple reply was, “Because I think you’re intuitive and it would suit you.” She then offered to meet up at a later date and provide a lesson. My partner and I met her and her fiancé and a mutual friend at a very swanky cocktail lounge that seemed to have the perfect ambiance for mystery and we got right down to learning. She laid out all the basics and asked me to do three readings right then and there. I was very nervous about that, but I read for her, her fiancé and another friend and with interestingly accurate results. It was exhilarating and after that, I was hooked on the idea of practicing the Tarot and learning all I could and that has recently expanded into the world of reading Lenormand fortune telling oracle cards as well. During these past few years, my practice with the cards has led me to realize that my connection to the Divine is not simply through Tarot, but available in every day connections with others. I often find myself having thoughts about others or messages to share with people when I least expect it and often with people that I really don’t know at all. In addition, I find myself empathically in tune with what many people around me are feeling.
I regard divination, in any form, as a gift from the Divine and a deeply special connection to oneself as well as through oneself when and if we choose to read for others. I think it’s best to approach the practice with an open mind and the willingness to surrender to what messages will come without trying to control them through any published meanings or keywords associated with any particular card. Is that challenging? YOU BET. I struggle with it all the time and honestly, it can be frustrating as well as a bit scary to just blurt out what you feel as opposed to what you know a card to basically represent. On the other hand, I think it’s essential to do that in order to learn to trust the reading and yourself as the reader and to pass along the most in-depth messages possible. Though it can be easier said than done, it’s important to have fun with this and not feel stifled or confused by any rules that many teachings try to put in place. What feels right to you will be right.
